Olympus OM System Camera Grip 1

I tweaked the design to close the gap between the LED side and the camera body, which acted as a lever when screwed down tightly. This modification fixed the geometry that caused this issue in version v4. Version v5 features small vertical ridges for added grip without requiring further post-processing, providing a significant amount of traction. Version v6 boasts a spiral design on the grip section, a result of experimenting with different styles and designs. It offers more grip than version v4 without compromising the fuzzy skin mode. I designed this version of the OM system Camera Grip 1 based on the original Camera Grip 1, which is extremely rare and expensive due to its scarcity. Fortunately, I have two of them, allowing me to create a replica that would enable others to use these cameras, thereby enhancing their experience with Olympus OM cameras and film photography. This grip will fit OM-4, OM-4T, OM-4Ti, OM-3, and OM-3T cameras, and should also accommodate the OM-2SP (although I don't have one to confirm this). The grip is modeled closely after the original, enabling users to better handle their camera, especially when holding it with one hand. It is secured using a single 5mm M3 screw, unlike the original which uses a proprietary extra-wide flat head screw that can be removed with a coin such as a nickel. I chose to use a nylon screw in the final version to prevent the grip from shaking loose due to vibration. The grip itself is smooth, allowing users to choose whether to leave it as is or add texture by using various methods like sandpaper, plastidip, clear coat, acrylic spray, leather wrapping, and more. I printed my final version with Cura's fuzzy mode for added texture and then applied a thick layer of liquid electrical tape, a thicker version of plastidip. I'm currently printing a version in fuzzy carbon fiber. This is the third prototype of the part, created by scanning the base of the original, converting it into a vector, and using accurate digital calipers to transfer precise lengths. This project builds on earlier instamorph camera grips I showed APUG members how to create for their OM cameras around 2012.
