This lens hood is designed as a clone of the Olympus LH-40B, which was specifically created for use with the 45mm f/1.8 lens. It features reversible functionality and clicks securely into place just like its Olympus counterpart. The fit can be somewhat tight, potentially requiring adjustments based on your printer's specific characteristics. Printing this design can be a challenge, but it is indeed possible without additional supports. However, the lugs that connect to the lens do protrude significantly, making successful printing more difficult. To achieve good results, I found that setting the layer height for these lugs (ranging from 2.5mm to 4mm) to 0.05mm yielded successful prints. Unfortunately, larger layer heights did not produce satisfactory outcomes. For those interested in a simpler print process, you can modify this design to place the lugs directly on the print bed. This adjustment would significantly simplify the printing process. The dimensions for this lens hood are based on photographs of the actual lens hood rather than direct measurements. As such, they may require some fine-tuning. Additionally, I have thickened the walls of the hood to ensure it is relatively stiff. If you prefer a more flexible design, you can simply adjust the thickness variable. One of the benefits of this being a parametric CAD design is its adaptability to other lenses. With minimal adjustments, you can easily modify it for use with different lenses.
