I needed a smaller CEM60 counterweight for my new 61mm telescope so looking at the cost of the 2.5kg iOptron counterweight I decided I'd try a DIY solution. As the 28mm counterweight bar diameter is just over an inch and would not fit my 1" center barbell plate weights I created a 3D printed adapter for 2" center hole Olympic barbell plates. I purchased 2 of the 2.5lb weights from Dick's Sports for $6.99 a piece. I needed about 5 lbs so I used 2 plates and adapters and cable-tied them together. I was able to use the collars from my weight set to hold the weights as they were slightly bigger than 1".
