It belongs to a group of dinosaurs known as hadrosaurs or duck-billed dinosaurs. The crest of Olorotitan was composed of solid bone and likely played a role in communication and species recognition. The exact function of the crest, whether it was used for display, sound production, or other purposes, is still a subject of scientific investigation. Like other hadrosaurs, Olorotitan had a beak-like snout and a wide mouth filled with hundreds of teeth. Its teeth were arranged in dental batteries, which allowed it to efficiently grind plant material.
