I carefully measured my trusty Olivetti Lettera 32 typewriter to design this custom spool, ensuring a precise fit for my vintage machine. Fortunately, I didn't have to rely on an outdated spool, as the process unfolded without any issues. Once complete, I was thrilled with the result, which set me up perfectly for adding a fresh ribbon soon. In fact, I plan to give it a deep coat using an inkpad, which should be just what this baby needs. Before we get started, though, I need to stress that I'm not sure if this spool will fit other typewriters perfectly - after all, the dimensions can vary quite significantly from one machine to another. If it's any consolation, I was thrilled to be able to print this custom part using my Replicator 2 with standard PLA quality. It took about an hour from start to finish, but the result is worth every second. Of course, you may find that removing the supports in the middle can be a bit tricky - I had to get creative to work them loose without any damage. Instructions Here's how it all went down: * First things first: printing. I opted for normal quality PLA with standard rafts and supports, as is often recommended for printing these sorts of parts. * Second step was the print orientation itself - since the design features an almost upright wheel, I knew I'd have to print it at an angle if I wanted it to sit flat when complete. Simple enough once you get into a groove! * Removal of the supports proved challenging - don't let this discourage you; persevere! It took me some tinkering before the part came off with a mere wiggle or two, and trust me, it's worth every extra minute invested in post-processing.
