Olde Bookbinding Fittings for Notebook
thingiverse
My son wanted a lock for his notebook, so being the awesome dad I am, I designed this lock. The parts should print without issue using your favourite filament at your preferred settings. I printed mine in PLA with a 0.2mm layer height. You'll need four Outside Corner parts and two each of the Spine Corner and Spine Corner mirrored versions. Models for the Side Flap are also included, covering book thicknesses from 5mm to 20mm outside cover to outside cover. To assemble the BackPlate, Side, and Top Flaps, cut a piece of paperclip (0.8 wire diameter) to length and push it through the hinges. You may need pliers to help push it through and to cut it. A couple of things to keep in mind: you'll likely need to clean up the underside of the bridged section on the Front Plate to allow the Lock to pass through. I trimmed the sagging layer with a blade, but some support may prevent sagging. Also, pay attention to the orientation when printing the corners so that the fill angle matches nicely in each corner - I have one corner at 90° to the rest. Use CA glue to attach them to your book of choice. The Lock can also be stored back in the Front Plate when the book is open.
