A young man walked into our Makerspace, eager to find out if we could craft a precise replica of his vintage Remington Standard typewriter foot. He had heard about the era when everyday objects were crafted from sturdy materials like stone, wood, and metal. When I had to break the news that creating a metal and rubber replacement wouldn't be feasible, I offered him an alternative: I would create a digital model of the original part and print it out on our 3D printer for him. The design wasn't complicated by any stretch, but here's how it turned out.
