Old Man of the Mountain
sketchfab
Scene of the old man's mountain dance, a rotoscoped marvel born from Cab Calloway's electrifying footage, shines in this 1933 animated short within the Betty Boop series by Fleischer studios. Max Fleischer, pioneer of the rotoscope technique since 1915, employed it to meticulously capture intricate dance movements in his Popeye and Betty Boop cartoons. Notably, these dance routines, inspired by the great Cab Calloway, can be seen in Minnie the Moocher (1932), Snow White (1933), and this very scene from The Old Man of the Mountain. This rotoscoped masterpiece was created using Blender, with a clever twist: I applied the rotoscoping technique to a rotoscoped scene from the original animated short, potentially giving birth to a novel double-rotoscoping method.
