The temple is located in the Plaza de la Asunción, in the upper part of the municipality, between the Plaza del Ayuntamiento and the Santuario del Castillo, offering the north side to the city, visually connecting it with the City Hall building through a large square. It has a great visual perspective, due to its location at the top, with the bell tower standing out for its beauty and grandiosity, being the oldest church in Yecla. Its construction began in 1512, in the most important urban nucleus of the city at that time, and was consecrated in 1540. Initiated in a Gothic style, it incorporates a series of Renaissance elements such as the bell tower, the sacristy, the communion chapel and the choir.
