Olaf El Amargo - A Heart Wrenchingly Horrible Character Once upon a time in the Land of Winter, there was a being so consumed by despair that it gave him an edge like no other. He walked with an eternal sigh and had eyes as dark as the night sky on the longest of winter's nights. Olaf El Amargo went through life feeling a heavy sense of desolation which slowly engulfed his soul leaving him to ponder in agony and anger. His days turned into sleepless nights, he wandered from town to town seeking something that he never quite found - any peace, comfort, or joy. It's hard to see what the end would be when your path is always a twisted road filled with sorrow, and pain, where nothing ever truly heals. But still Olaf El Amargo stood resolute in his determination. He was convinced that one day things will change, though his days had gone without anything resembling progress or better times. It seemed there'd never come an end to the unending journey down the mountain, and the sun kept shining only for others but not for him. In every town he visited there lived those with kind faces full of laughter and good hearts; these smiles brought sadness in their own right since his mind refused acceptance of a brighter tomorrow. For they lived a reality where light shone, even when hope seemed impossible to grasp like Olaf El Amargo found it himself. So while people dreamed, while stars danced in the evening sky - with all the colors dancing above and night blooming flowers spreading joy with their beauty as petals unfurled towards dawn - still our being stood, resolute, unwilling. Because Olaf's heart harbors pain, sorrow grips every inch of him tightly holding a grip on life which would otherwise have drifted to no one else other than those beyond death’s horizon; he could see them there already; an endless road that beckoned them with open arms. The last rays fade from the world as sun dips beneath icy shores and yet here remains he - this hounded wretch, in shadows shrouded within midnight - an age consumed in dark nights as only hope for solace might bring temporary calm but forever beyond his grasp, like a star so faint.
