An oil/gas separator is a pressure vessel that divides a well stream into gaseous and liquid components, installed onshore or offshore platforms. They come in various configurations such as horizontal, vertical, or spherical separators. Two-phase separators separate gas and liquid, while three-phase separators handle oil, gas, and water. Classifications include primary phase, test, high-pressure, low-pressure, deliquilizers, and degassers. Staged designs allow for progressive separation in the first stage, followed by further treatment in subsequent stages. Depending on application, these separators may be called deliquilizers or degassers, removing droplets from gas streams and bubbles from liquid streams, respectively.
