Oil flask with applied reliefs
myminifactory
Attic pottery relief production surged in the 4th century BC. Mould-made terracotta reliefs were applied to leather-hard, red figured vases before firing. The reliefs were carefully colored and sometimes gilded, possibly to replicate metal vessels. This oil flask (lekythos) depicts Dionysos and Ariadne, surrounded by maenads in a lively scene.
