Installing an oil catch can on a turbocharged engine effectively stops carbon buildup from forming on the back of the valves and elsewhere in the intake system. On the R56 Mini Cooper motor, the oil catch can is fitted into the vent line between the valve cover and the turbo inlet (drivers side of the engine). To install it, simply cut the line and use two of the three fittings provided with hose clamps (the smaller end goes into a 5/8" heater line, while the larger end goes into your cut vent line - not at the bends). I used the 180 degree model on the line from the can towards the turbo, and the 90 degree on the valve cover towards the oil can. The 110 model was made but I didn't install it, as it depends on your oil can location and cut location whether you'll need it. Special thanks to Zacharylaynewilson for his STLs. Printing with ABS at a high resolution of 0.2mm layer height and solid seems to produce a pretty strong result. So far, it's worked fine. I might do a quick acetone finish to reduce any porosity if it appears to have any (maybe oil seeping out?).
