The Ohio Class submarine model is highly detailed, nearly to scale, and includes textures and materials as shown. It features animateable propeller, opening launch tube hatches, retractable periscopes, antenna, handrails, and torpedo tube doors that can be opened. For the SSGN boats, there are 7 smaller launch tubes in each missile silo with individual sub hatches covering the interior launch tube. Developed for the US Navy during the cold war era, the original Ohio Class submarines were initially equipped with Trident I missiles and later with Trident II missiles. The first four boats - USS Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, and Florida - were due for retirement in 2002. However, they were reassigned and refitted to function as non-nuclear guided missile launch platforms, housing 7 Tomahawk Cruise missiles in each of the 22 launch tubes along with Navy Seal equipment and boats.
