Odysseus, also celebrated under the Latin alias Ulysses, was a legendary Greek monarch of Ithaca and the hero of Homer's iconic epic poem, the Odyssey. Odysseus takes center stage in Homer's Iliad as well, his exploits woven throughout other works within that same epic cycle. Renowned for his exceptional intelligence, cunning guile, and versatility (polytropos), he is often referred to by the epithet Odysseus the Cunning. His most enduring legacy lies in his nostos or "homecoming", a decade-long odyssey that spanned ten eventful years after the tumultuous Trojan War.
