This is a project my eight-year-old daughter and I have had a blast working on together. We made an edit of the ameridroid plan, which can be found here: http://respectech.com/odroid/files/3d/vu7-tablet/ My daughter made some changes in tinkercad to allow for adding an external battery by cutting the back in half and personalizing it. This uses a external battery that requires no soldering and you can add the peripherals you would like. We attached the battery to the right side with velcro. I had to make some post-hoc edits with a pocket knife to open one of the sides a little where the power cord connects. This was designed to use a vu-7 screen and the hdmi and micro sd connectors from odroid. See www.ameridroid.com We used an odroid c2, odroid vu-7, power cable, emmc and sd card. You will need four #6 1.5 in. screws and nuts (we started with 1.25 and it was too small and ended up using 2", I am thinking that 1.5" would be just right). We made an instructable with more information here:http://www.instructables.com/id/Odroid-C2-Vu-7-Sbc-Tablet-Computer-for-Kids/ My daughter calls it "Frankentab." We hope this inspires you to make your own projects!
