Oculus Rift S Custom Strap Mount
thingiverse
I'm no expert in modeling, but my determination to keep using the Rift S HMD without the Halo prompted me to create this proof-of-concept mod. Hopefully, someone with better modeling skills can improve on it, but at least it works. To use it, detach the Halo from the Rift S and reuse the top strap on this bracket. I used an old Samsung Gear VR strap for the horizontal strap, but any velcro will do. The bracket then slides over the front of the HMD. I secured the cable along the back strap with a zip tie. For audio, you'll need a 2.5mm jack for the top plug on the Rift S HMD or a 3.5 mm right angle jack adapter for the side - so the strap doesn't hit it. If you're curious, my old Rift CV1 weighs 496 grams, and this mod comes in at 477 grams. I added longer versions of the strap connectors to make positioning more rigid, just like the original Rift headset, and created an audio passthrough hole for an earphone plug.
