Oculus Rift DK2 IPD adjuster +4mm
thingiverse
I recently designed this IPD adjuster for Oculus Rift DK2, expanding the inter-pupillary distance by approximately four millimeters, bringing it up from sixty-three point five millimeters to sixty-seven point five millimeters. This IPD adjuster works like similar non-invasive devices by employing B lenses and elevating them one millimeter above the A lenses due to the design requirements of the DK2 lens clip. This could potentially cause some distortion but should be fine for most people. I did not have time to conduct a thorough test, however initial results indicate it operates as expected. [Edit] I have since created a three-millimeter version of this adapter, which requires a hardware modification and detailed instructions can be found accordingly. [Edit 2] Version two of the adapters have been uploaded with adjustments made to reduce the risk of misalignment. They also now fit tighter into the DK2 leaving less possibility for error. [Edit 3] I've created a parametric version of this design that's available on Thingiverse at: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:543445 Instructions: No Hardware Mod Required (4mm thick): Print using twenty-nine point one millimeter layer thickness with thirty percent infill density, which worked well for me. Place the B lenses in correctly Examine the bottom markings - left/right lettering should be upright and the little arrow on one of the clips pointing downwards. Install the two assemblies in your Rift DK2 HMD according to these markings.
