Oculus Quest Lens Cover Protector
thingiverse
This design combines elements of magnetic prescription lens covers created by JEGSTAD. I modified version 2 of the upper section to serve as a lens cover/protector instead of a holder for prescription lenses. The magnet concept for lenses was attractive, and I believed it would be ideal for a lens cover as well. Most other lens covers work well, but they either consume too much space, activate the sensor on the Quest by covering it, or are too small. This design offers a compact way to protect lenses while providing ease of use with magnets for quick putting on and off. It's particularly useful if you have the VR Cover facial interface, as this will fit perfectly whereas many other lens covers are either too large or too small. I included the bases from the magnetic lenses, but if you're looking for the top part with prescription lenses, I recommend checking out JEGSTAD's design – it's impressive. The magnets used in the original design were 5mm x 2mm disc magnets; however, I managed to get away with using two 5mm x 1mm disks connected together because that's what I had available. Be sure to orient the magnets correctly so the polarity on the bottom piece snaps into place. Example magnets can be found at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075PMRBWJ.
