Oculus Quest Front Head Strap Attachment (Stock & DAS)
thingiverse
Update 5/28: I have removed all old revisions and uploaded the latest versions, including three sizes of stock strap attachments ranging from short to matching the DAS model's length. The ideal size depends on personal preference for how large a strap you want. Using at least the medium one is recommended if you're already using almost the whole top strap at the stock location. The small one is only slightly longer than the old revision. I have also included a variant with the Oculus text logo on the front, which will be covered by the attachment. Update 1/21: A new version three has been added to the download list. Changes include: The clip design now spans across the entire clip and features slightly longer teeth for a stronger grip on the Quest's front. A small arrow was added to the bottom of the clip, allowing for easy alignment with the seam when clipped on, which will align with the front LED. For the DAS version, I increased the strap space again. The mount length was also greatly increased, enabling use without needing an extension on the top strap. Update 1/7 #2: After assembling the DAS version, I found that the strap is not long enough and requires an extension. I will try to determine a suitable length for use without an extension. Update 1/7: Upon testing the DAS mount, I realized the end of the strap does not fit if the rod is already inserted, so I updated the mounts with more clearance, allowing them to now fit the end of the strap. An image will be added once one is printed. This modification relocates the top strap from the back of the Quest to the front, relieving pressure from the weight of the device without needing a counterweight on the rear strap. This is similar to how the original Vive attached their strap before the weight reduction in the Vive Pro. Four models are included: a thinner one for the stock head strap and a wider one for the DAS (Vive Deluxe Audio Strap). Two taller versions of each are also available, which I have not tested yet. I am testing whether higher equals more relief; if it does not, these will be removed from this project. I currently mark it as work in progress because I am still testing to see if any further revisions are needed. I aim to relocate the Oculus Link or other cables to the top of the strap using this clip. Print the mount on its side with supports, using 60% infill and a raft. Print the rod on its side, setting horizontal expansion to -0.20 or a value that works for you, as it's the exact dimensions of the hole. You'll want a raft for this as it has very little contact. A tight fit into the mount is ideal; if it's loose, use super glue to secure the rod or decrease horizontal expansion to print again. I used 99% infill. Everything should load in the orientation they are to be printed in.
