A snap on 3D printed home button adaptation for the Oculus Quest 2 controller, this device allows the user to press the home button in an alternate way, such as by bringing it up and pressing the top against their chin, other body part, or object.

Print Settings

For “Button pressing rod” and “Rod holder”:
Material: PLA (or other rigid filament)
Infill: 15%
Resolution: 0.2mm
Supports: Yes

For “Rod cap”:
Material: TPU (or other flexible filament)
Infill: 10%
Resolution: 0.2mm
Supports: Yes

Notes:
If you find that the rod holder breaks easily when snapping onto the controller, print it so the two clips across from each other are flat on the build plate, with the third clip above and needing supports. In this orientation, the print direction causes the two main clips to be stronger.

Post Printing

Make sure to remove supports from the "Rod holder" and if needed file down the hole where
the rod will slide.

Assembly

Assemble by putting the button pressing rod through the rod holder and then putting on the rod cap. The device should fit onto your Oculus Quest controller by sliding on the 3 "clips". If you find this is not secure enough, you can use the slots in the clips to add a small strap to each one.

If the rod cap slips when pressing the button, or gets stuck after pressing the button, cover the rod cap with Dycem or other non slip material.

Made in the Rehabilitation Engineering department at the Stan Cassidy Centre for Rehabilitation
Part of the Horizon Health Network
Learn more about our centre here.
