I got cramps in my hand with the original design because my thumb kept sliding off the joystick, refusing to rest naturally on its surface. I made a crucial adjustment by moving the connector clamp on the bottom slightly backwards and tweaked the rope connector for a better grip. It's also possible that this issue is not unique to this controller design but rather a common problem with the new Oculus controllers as well. However, I did experience relief after making this change on my original controller. This modification might just be what some of you need to avoid similar hand cramps and discomfort when gaming or using your VR headset.
