Based on the brilliant design posted by WorkInPixels (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:22818), I built upon it by creating a hole at the base or back of the head to make room for a few LEDs. These LEDs were printed using transparent filament with no infill, allowing them to glow brightly. To ensure a seamless closure of the head without any internal structure or supports getting in the way, I adjusted the Simplify 3D settings to print "Outside-In" shells in the layer tab. This tweak greatly simplified the printing process. Both STL files - the original and my modified version with enhanced resolution - are now available for download.
