Octoprint Pi Case - Ender 3 Extruder Rail
thingiverse
This is an OctoPrint case for a Raspberry Pi 3B to be attached to the front extruder rail of a Creality Ender 3. This case is a remix/meld of the Raspberry Pi 2/3 case by jayftee and the camera mount by StokedGiraffe. Many thanks go out to these folks for providing the starting points. Pi case remixes are done because: 1. I trimmed back the swept-back dividers between the USB ports and the Ethernet jack, which was necessary after the one by jayftee contacted a resistor on my Pi and broke it free. Luckily, I was able to solder it back on. 2. I added a ball joint to attach the camera mount to, making it easier to adjust the angle of the camera. 3. I relocated the fan hole so that the fan and pi cam can be attached at the same time, which is really convenient for 3D printing enthusiasts like myself. 4. I closed off the GPIO pin hole because I'm not using them, making the case more compact and streamlined. 5. I added the extruder rail mount, allowing me to easily attach my Creality Ender 3 to the Raspberry Pi. 6. I changed the height of the pi case top because I have a heatsink that is mounted to the SBC's mounting holes, so it adds 4.3mm of height to the board. Included is the customized .stl as well as a version for a standard pi with no extra heatsink. Camera mount remixes are done too: 1. I adjusted the size of the gap for the ribbon cable because my knock-off camera had a slightly larger than standard ribbon cable jack, which made it easier to install. 2. I added a socket to the base instead of the screw-hold mounting style, making it more convenient to attach and detach the camera.
