OctoPi with Camera Mount for Prusa i3 MK2S
thingiverse
I really liked the round tower camera mount but wanted a way to mount my Pi nearby, partially because it looked nice that way and partially because I didn't feel like buying a longer cable for my camera. So, I combined the tower with a Pi case to make it all one compact unit. I had to block off the HDMI port to make it work, but if you're running Octoprint, you aren't using the HDMI anyway. I provided a matching lid with the HDMI blocked and all ports but the camera port blocked, along with an otherwise solid top so you can add your own design or do like me and slice it with a honeycomb infill and no top or bottom layers for a cool honeycomb mesh look. I used a bottom meant for a Raspberry Pi 3, but I think the only difference is the SD card access hole. I'm pretty sure a Pi 2 can be used in the same base, but don't quote me on that. Any lids meant for the original case should work just fine, except there will be a small slot for the top half of the HDMI port. There's a 5mm hole in the base of the tower to add a support leg if you feel the need. I'm using anti-vibration feet from the Prusa website, so I made a small ball with a peg to act as a stabilizing foot. It was designed to be easy to adapt to your needs if you have different feet on your printer - just make your own foot and put a 5mm peg on there to hold it in place. The whole thing is plenty strong, so you could probably get away with no foot, but I like the additional stability. I provided a modified ball top that's solid if you want to put the camera straight on top of the tower or a boom that allows you to bring the camera back closer since I had to move the whole thing out a bit to clear the Pi. If you're sure you'll be fine with the camera on top of the tower, I provided a file of the base with the ball permanently attached. The whole thing can be mounted on either side, but it was really designed to go on the right of the printer. If you mount it on the left, the USB cables will kind of stick out. I designed it with this camera case in mind: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2352964, but I'm sure you could use whatever you want as long as it clips onto the ball. UPDATE: I think the ball was transmitting too much vibration into my desk so I made an anti-vibration foot to match the ones I am using on the printer.
