OctoPi Raspberry Pi 3 Case
thingiverse
This is the result of my searching for a RPi case, as I couldn't find *the case*, so I decided to give designing one a shot. Here are the main designs that inspired this build: - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3240926 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3133566 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2913700 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3060616 - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3167013 **REQUIREMENTS** - The design must be easy to assemble - It must allow some form of cooling - Easy access to the GPIO is required - Designers want it to look "cool" (yeah I know) - It must attach easily to a 2020 aluminum frame - Attaching to the 2020 frame without dismounting any part of the printer is essential - Ability to secure the extra long Logitech c270 USB cable is necessary - Access to all USB and Ethernet ports is required **FEATURES** - Vents on both the top and bottom of the case provide airflow - Housing for a 40mm fan keeps components cool - Exposed GPIO pins allow for easy access - A low profile case cover adds style - The bottom part of the case incorporates: - A mount to the 2020 frame - A cable channel with zip-tie openings **BILL OF MATERIAL** Other than PLA, you will need: - 1x 40mm fan - 4x M2x8mm screws - 4x M2 nuts - 8xM3x8mm screws - 8xM3x8mm nuts **ASSEMBLY** **Step 1**: Secure the RPi board to the bottom case using 4x M2x8mm screws and M2 nuts. **Step 2**: Secure the 40mm fan to the case cover using 4xM3x8mm screws and M3 nuts. **Step 3**: Secure both parts of the case using 4x M3x8mm screws and M3 nuts. I welcome any comments and constructive criticism that could help improve the design in the future.
