Updates on 20190626: I have attempted a new version generating 2 polyhedrons inside on another, it seems OK for 3 iterations, but at 4 iteration, still some gaps are still not properly filled. Please let me know what you think I did wrong. Many thanks.===============================================================================As I was wondering whether we could replace the Octree in Voxel to represent some non cubical spatial point position, because I was ignorant about the polyhedron, I naively thought that a tetrahedron representation would also be able to reduce to itself resulting a shifted point cloud representation.Then when I tried to visualize putting tetrahedron into tetrahedron, in the center the result is an octahedron, and then I came across this interesting octahedron fractal model when searching, and though could I fill in the holes.After searching a bit, there are a lot of reference online eg: http://www.matematicasvisuales.com/english/html/geometry/planenets/octahedronnet.html1 tetrahedron = 4 tetrahedron + 1 octahedron1 octahedron = 6 octahedron + 8 tetrahedronSo I attempted to write an iterative process to fill in the blanks (still not complete)But the result is still interesting, I failed to fill in the tetrahedrons on each surface(As shown in the capture).To print the model, as I generated it in the "wrong" orientation, you'll have to rotate the model first, you'll need to rotate on the 1st axis 45 degrees, and 2nd axis atan(1/sqrt(2)) around 35.2644 degs to lay it flat (for my slicer, 1st axis is x, 2nd is y) ( The reason that needs manual is that I used hull to generate the model, so aligning face to build plate doesn't really work )Problem with the model:Overlapping generation not delt withUsing hull to draw volume wireframe resulting in slow model generation so I wasn't able to test iteration = 4.Future improvement:Use a more efficient way of calculating all the connections that avoids overlapping generation.Correctly fill in the blanks (tetrahedrons as marked in the screen cap)
