Octahedron derived shape 01
grabcad
I constructed a shape by starting with an octahedron frame made of pipes, whose joints and tips I rounded to match the radius of the pipes themselves. The lower tetrahedron was centered at [0,0,0]. To create this shape, I first created 8 copies of the octahedron and positioned them around the central point so that they formed a perfectly circular pattern. Next, I used boolean operations to intersect two diametrically opposed octahedrons in each quadrant with one another, resulting in four new shapes. After that, I merged these four shapes together using boolean operations. Finally, I rounded all seams and edges created by the previous boolean operations. The shape possesses 16 planes of symmetry.
