Octagonal Airgun Silencer
thingiverse
This new silencer design takes a conventional shape, setting it apart from my previous creations. Like those offset silencers, it features baffles that redirect spent air through holes at the back of the device, significantly reducing the report at the front end. This redirection ensures that noise isn't directed towards any unsuspecting quarry or even the targeted one if there's a miss, thus preventing them from being spooked. The absence of metal parts eliminates the characteristic high-pitched ping associated with standard silencers, resulting in a deeper toned report that remains unrecognizable at greater distances. Baffle 1, positioned first among the six baffles, has slightly less internal air volume than Baffle 6. This configuration allows for experimentation with various silencing methods. However, printing a 5-baffle design appears to be the maximum practical length, as anything longer may not fit on some printers. Given this limitation, I've opted against creating silencers with more than five baffles. To assemble the adapter, you'll need to use a 1/2" UNF tap for tapping purposes.
