Octagon Box (dxf to Solidworks 2015)
grabcad
The model was created using a dxf file import and 2D-3D conversion via Solidworks 2015, with thanks to Craig Forcht for the patterns. Check out "Octagon Box for Laser Cutting" by Craig Forcht. The parts are virtual, so only need the assembly file for download. Various file types available. The model was generated using boolean operations for inlays and assembly-level cut features for trimming stubs. Formed sides created with sheet metal tools; sketches lack dimensions but use blocks. Interference issues were detected, potentially requiring more work. Bend locations seem fine, but side tabs don't fit within reliefs. Tinkering is encouraged, though late hours may be involved.
