Octa-B Magnet

Starting from the idea that alphabet is easier to memorize when learning to write it simultaneously, I tried to create a Braille character easily using a tactile tool even for visually impaired people. Since all characters can be created with two series of eight different combinations, I designed two octagon parts with all dot combination faces, linked by a magnet (diameter 6.35mm or less) to allow rotation and cohesion. After trying many configurations of dot distributions, similar to how letters are arranged on a keyboard, I assumed that the most practical configuration is when a half turn gives the opposite result. In this example, dot 1-3 becomes dot 2 when turning 180 degrees the part. This point could be confirmed or updated if a better proposal is made; however, I suggest having the part with the incurved hole on your left-hand side before starting, which could help you memorize the relative location. That contest gave me the opportunity to learn the Braille alphabet in just a few days by playing with that combination tool and considering that Braille is an universal tactile writing system used worldwide (even Japanese, Arabian, Indian, and others are using it). I hope this concept can be used by visually impaired people and teachers, and why not everyone interested in learning Braille. I'm playing with it while waiting in line or on the subway to spend time searching for the fastest way to go through the alphabet without seeing it but only touching... and as of now, I understand those weird dots in my elevator command panel. Another version with standard size characters is in progress to create words and sentences with multiple characters. If you are interested in more, just let me know... Let's print and enjoy! Parameters for printed sample on the picture: 0.4mm layer height, without support, 60% honeycomb filled, concentric top and bottom layers.
