4-15-19 Update - Added a ledge for the outer race of the bearing to sit on, which will alleviate having to guess the center of the bearing in each roller. Hello, After switching to a reverse-Bowden setup for my custom Prusa Mk2, I decided that a more artistic, low-profile, and fancy-looking filament spool holder was needed for my bench. I discovered that Skate Bearings (608ZZ) fit perfectly over an 8mm Linear Rod, which made this project a no-brainer since I had many of them lying around. I designed this holder to be adjustable to any width you want, allowing you to cut your linear rods as wide or short as needed. The bearings will slide to any position required. The bearing wheel covers are press fit and require no glue. Together, the two halves create a "more" flat channel than most semi-circular designs, which helps the spool edges sit more flat. To assemble this holder, you will need to: Print both left and right bridges. Print 4 each of the left and right rollers. Cut your own lengths of 8mm Linear Rods (for width). 608 (ZZ) x 4 bearings for the rollers. You can use more if you want a sturdier design. I had to lightly sand the rods with an orbital sander to eliminate the tightness of the bearings, which allowed them to slide back and forth without force after assembly. Print the bridges with supports due to their complexity. The rollers can be printed flat as shown in the pictures. This is an original design created by me. Enjoy!
