All letters are a combination of big lines, little lines, big curves and little curves. Children, especially those with special needs often have difficulty learning the concepts of curves. Diagonals are often the most difficult letters to master correctly and the letters with combinations of shapes last to master. An OT practice is to have the student make the shape of the letter with sticks, or play doh. This tool allows students to model the letter with the many shape options available, in several different possible combinations, then stencil it with a pen or pencil or fine-tipped marker.
