She introduced herself as Brilliant Soft Darkness. I refer to her as she, though truthfully, I had no logical reason to assume a feminine presence; she existed as a floating magical tome, a grimoire so potent that it not only conveyed its thoughts to me telepathically from the ancient crypt where it was entombed, but also took to the skies with ease once I inadvertently released it. By then, however, all hope for containment had been lost.
