Obsession Insert / Organizer - Holds 2nd Ed. Base Game, Wessex, Upstairs Downstairs, and Useful Box

This is an insert / organizer for Obsession (2nd ed.) with: • Wessex Expansion; • Upstairs, Downstairs Expansion; • Promo Tiles Expansion; and • Useful Box additions. I designed it to aid setup and teardown, and I also created the trays with notches so they can hold in place all the different sized boards that come with the game. The insert supports vertical storage and passes the upside-down shake test. It does *not* support sleeved cards. The insert has separate tile trays for the main tiles, the promo tiles, and the two different sets of monuments you choose from. The tray that holds the objective cards (one set from base game and one set from Upstairs, Downstairs) also holds the three tiles that are only used when playing with the Upstairs, Downstairs expansion. It serves as a quick reminder to add those if choosing the U/D objective deck. The main card tray has separate slots for: • Starting Guests • Casual Guests • Prestige Guests • Promo Guests • The Fairchilds • Solo Cards • Milestones (from U/D) • New Useful Box Player Aid It is a large tray, but it prints in one piece on my Prusa i3 Mk3s by printing it diagonally on the print bed. I have provided two options for the money trays. I like having money accessible at both ends of the table, so I created two money trays, one for each end. They hold the Nanty Narking metal coins well. If you prefer to have a single money tray, perhaps to place in the money spot on the Derbyshire board, there is also an option for a single deeper money tray. Print whichever option you prefer. In the family boxes, I keep each family’s starting cards and starting tiles, along with their player aids and starting servants. The remaining servants go into the servant meeple tray. Some of the slots in that tray have internal ridges (a close-up of the footman slot is in one of the photos) to help support the meeples in place. I raised up the meeples so they are all generally the same height, although your mileage may vary if there are manufacturing differences in meeple height. The same may be true of meeple thickness and width. I had to widen the lady’s maid slot because one of my lady’s maids was a bit wider than the rest. But hopefully the slots will work well for you. The first money tray sits directly on top of the meeples, and there is no lid on the meeple tray. But the wooden meeples should support the trays on top of them without issue, and as I mentioned above, the meeples don’t shift even when turning the box upside down and shaking it. There are a few things I did not include in the box. I opted for the larger theme cards, so I did not include a space for the small ones. But it would be fairly easy to modify the card VP/theme card try to accommodate the smaller theme cards. If someone is interested in that, let me know and I can see about posting an alternative version of that tray. I also did not include the side market board because that is built into the 2nd ed. board. Recent 2nd ed. purchasers who also received the Useful Box may have extra purple bags, but I left room only for one of the large purple bags and one of the U/D bags. Basically, I left out the duplicate/extra components that recent 2nd ed. owners likely do not need. To achieve the insert as shown, print two of the short money trays, two of the monuments tile trays, and one of the everything else. If you prefer one money tray instead of two, instead print one of the tall money tray. The photos show how to layer all the trays and boards in the box. The one thing that isn’t as apparent from the photos is that the main Derbyshire board fits just under the five country estate organizers. I have included the original OpenSCAD files in case anyone wants to improve on the design. Edit January 31, 2022: I had a request to split the large card tray, so there is now a version in two parts. Choose whether to print the original as one piece or print the two separate trays for the large cards.
