Oblivion Blaster Mods (Split/enhanced handle, working safety, trigger spring pins)
thingiverse
I am currently printing this one out (FDM) and as always looking to simplify the printing process. - This splits the Frame into 3 parts to allow smoother printing with almost no support - The bottom of the grip will need a little sanding, but otherwise almost no supports (turn them on for all parts though) - Glue the frames together and assemble as usual. - This split keeps the structural strength in the grip which is where you want it. If you want extra strength in the top halves you will be able to lay that in before assembly by whatever means suit your build. - I have added a tabbed version of the bottom grip to the remix, this allows some extra glue points and strength January-20-2021 - Added new top split halves, these add supports for the trigger pin, I have also included a new trigger spring pin - I have also cut a hole in the safety notch I took the new trigger spring pint and glued it to the original safety so that you have a working safety - New safety pin - 2 part safety pain that goes through the new safety hole print the 2 part piece as in the stl with supports, assemble the pin into the safety tab hole and glue, then slide through the safety notch - I used a pen spring on the trigger and stretched it to go under the first pin and attach to the safety lever/pin, this gives better travel to the trigger and helps keep the safety pin from moving too much - another tip for the safety pin, you can lightly melt and flare the end of the pin on the other side if you know what you are doing or lengthen the pin for a bit extra to go so, this will permanently retain it - Added the front frame orientated in the best way to print with minimal support (the back supports are a b*tch to remove, as they are created inside the model, a little trimming and leaving most of that piece is fine it does not affect anything. If I could get the supports off and out anyone can :) - Added body pin v2 (This fits the frame holes and is extended to match the receiver, more for aesthetics than anything else, if you want the more natural look use this pin instead of the trigger spring pin There is a simple 2 part base available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4730889 This takes a roughly 9 hour printed part and makes it under 5 at .20 35mm/s print speed. I have test printed the tab version and it works as it's designed, you will need to sand and glue for a proper joining and fill/sand for seamless, but as most are going to paint this anyhow that's a no brainer. my inside support on one side failed but had no impact on the final print, you might be able to print the bottom without support. I may add further parts to this as I complete the build but everything else looks to be ok for FDM printing so far, maybe the receiver. Enjoy! If you enjoy my prints or find my remixes helpful please consider donating, even a dollar helps :)
