Obelisk in Ghent, Belgium
myminifactory
An ancient monument known as an obelisk stands tall with four narrow sides that taper down to a pyramid-like shape at the top. Originally called "tekhenu" by the Egyptians who built them, these structures were later described by the Greeks as "obeliskos," a term that eventually made its way into Latin and then English. Typically constructed from a single massive stone, ancient obelisks differ from modern ones, which are often assembled from multiple stones and may contain interior spaces. This remarkable object is part of the "Scan The World" project, a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a free digital archive of 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe. Scan The World is an open-source community effort, and anyone with interesting items to contribute can email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how they can help. Scanned using photogrammetry software, this model was processed using Agisoft PhotoScan.
