Oathkeeper originates from two Valyrian steel longswords forged from Ice, the mighty greatsword belonging to House Stark, with Lord Tywin Lannister issuing the command. Initially handed over to Jaime Lannister by his father, Lord Tywin intended for it to become a treasured family heirloom of their house; however, Jaime chose instead to entrust Brienne of Tarth with Oathkeeper for her mission to rescue Sansa Stark. Its sibling sword is Widow's Wail.
