The Oakland Raiders Logo is a symbol of strength and resilience in the world of American football. As one of the most iconic teams in the league, the Raiders have a rich history that spans over five decades. Founded in 1960 as a member club of the American Football League (AFL), they have been a part of the National Football League (NFL) since the merger with the AFL in 1970. The team's home base is in Oakland, California, where they play their games at the Oakland Alameda Coliseum. With an impressive all-time regular season record of 444-397-11 and a playoff record of 25-18, the Raiders have consistently shown their ability to compete at the highest level. Under the guidance of legendary coach Al Davis, who took over as head coach in 1963, the team's fortunes began to change dramatically. In 1967, they made it to the postseason for the first time and went on to win their first AFL title by defeating the Houston Oilers in the Championship Game. Although they were defeated by the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl II, this marked the beginning of a successful era for the team. The Raiders' success continued throughout the 1970s, with six division titles and six AFC championship game appearances. In 1976, they captured their first championship by defeating the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl XI, and two years later, they won another championship by defeating the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XV. This made them the first wild card team to win a Super Bowl title. The Raiders relocated to Los Angeles in 1982 but continued to experience success on the field. In 1983, they defeated the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl XVIII to capture their third and last championship. However, after the 1985 season, the team's fortunes declined significantly, and they struggled for several years. In 1995, the Raiders returned to Oakland and experienced a brief resurgence in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Their renaissance culminated with a 2002 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII. Since then, the team has struggled significantly, failing to reach the playoffs or achieve a winning record for over a decade. Despite their current struggles, the Raiders are known for their dedicated fan base and distinctive team culture. They have won 15 division titles, three Super Bowls, four AFC titles, and an AFL Championship since 1963. Additionally, 14 former members of the team have been enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
