O3 Max-FOV Pod Mount: no props, max protection, any quad (AOS, Apex, iFlight, TBS, GepRC, DJI etc)

## Max-FOV, nothing in view Meticulously modeled a 3D representation of the camera's field-of-view. Now the mount allows maximum TPU protection in front of the lens while perfectly avoiding being visible. ![fov view](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/381833/rich_content/d2ede976-844f-4d8d-9bfe-fdacace80502/thumbs/cover/800x327/png/o3-pod-graphic.png) - Need _any other_ camera angle than what's in the downloads? I generate them for folks on-demand! **See the _steps_ below!** - See this design's [printables page](https://www.printables.com/model/381833) too. * The downloads are organized _by manufacturer_! * each file is 3d-previewable * it's much easier to write/maintain the documentation.. so there's lots more! - Other related designs of mine: * [Action 2 bolt-down mount](https://www.printables.com/model/217897) is where I first pioneered my Max-FOV approach * [GoPro 11 Mini mount](https://www.printables.com/model/324369) uses the same frame-database I've built * [AOS LR5/UL5 Parts](https://www.printables.com/model/358922-aos-lr5-parts-gps-mount-antenna-mounts-landing-fee): GPS mount, antenna mounts, landing feet skids, arm protectors, - Thanks to YUranium for the cover photo from his [_make_ post](https://www.printables.com/model/381833-dji-o3-universal-camera-pod-mount-aos-apex-iflight/comments/636483)!! - Got vibration / jello / jittery video issues? I've got a whole section on this at the bottom of my [printables page](https://www.printables.com/model/381833)! ## Just Follow the Steps! ### Step 1: Pick your quad(s) ![all your bases](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/381833/rich_content/ede843dd-5c8a-43e1-b89c-524e6c9239f3/thumbs/cover/800x152/png/choices.png) What quad you got?? I've made a highly flexible, adaptive system, with over 80 different bases in my database, new ones every day. (Yes the photo above is from my Action2 design database.. it's what I'm pulling from to populate this new O3 Pod database!) So far I've added - AOS standard (AOS 5, LR5, UL5, etc etc), AOS 3.5, AOS Falcon 7, - ImpulseRC: Apex, Micro Apex, Reverb - iFlight: standard (XL5-Nazgul, SL5-Cidora, F5D-Evoque, etc), Chimera 6 + 7, Chimera4 DC, Nazgul F6 DC, Titan DC5 - TBS: Source-One: V1, V2, V3, V4, and V5 - Rotor Riot: Bubby Moxy, CL1, etc - FPVCycle: Glide, Toothfairy 2 - GepRC: Mark-2, Mark 4, Crocodile Baby 4 - Heks Frames: Joocy - Hyperlite: Floss3 - Lumenier: QAV-S JB, QAV-S Mini - Rekon: 4 LR, R5, R6, R10 - Flywoo Explorer - Ummagawd: Demibot - Vanover: Vannystyle - Quadmula Siren F5 - Quadmula Siren F3 - Falconrad: RAD Scout - Ethix: Cinerat - Emax: Babyhawk II HD - Diatone: Roma F35 - Dave_C: MicroLongRange - Banggood: Steele 5 - Banggood Strech X5 Freestyle 220mm - Air blade: Transformer Mini 4in - Five33 Spec 7, Switchback Pro (beta) - ... - and more. See 'files' and, even better, the _files_ over [on printables](https://www.printables.com/model/381833/files) that are organized into folders by manufacturer! ### Step 2: Pick your uptilt angle(s) ![tilts](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/381833/rich_content/7faed501-f582-4f00-bce9-9004d203efab/thumbs/cover/800x152/png/tilt-angles.png) - Cinewhoops: 10-20º - Cinematic/Long Range: 20º - Freestyle: 25-30º - Racing: 40º+ ### Step 3: Antenna Mounting Want to mount your RX antennas in front on the camera mount? There's three ways: - Low-profile Immortal-T mount. * uses zip-ties (or twist-ties like I use!) to attach - Low-profile ELRS mounts. Works the same as the Immortal-T, just smaller! - Leave a gap on the standoffs for an existing mount. Works great! ![rx example](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/381833/rich_content/cd688271-b298-40e4-99a7-59074283359e/thumbs/cover/800x222/png/immortal_t_dipole_o3_pod_mount.png) ### Step 4: GPS ![gps example](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/381833/rich_content/ad897e5c-7881-400e-b388-cb79815bfb6a/thumbs/cover/800x242/png/gps-option.png) Works best with smaller GPSs and/or longer forward positions. I recommend the Walksnail WS-M181, HGLRC M100 MINI, Beitian BE220 M8N / BN-220, GOKU GM10 Mini V3, GOKU GM10 Nano V3, BZGNSS BZ-181, and the TBS M8.2 GPS. And my design supports many more! ### Step 5: Camera Forward Position ![offset diagram](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/381833/rich_content/9cbbf17b-919e-4bf9-9b08-ddc2a5f776c2/thumbs/cover/800x330/png/camera-positioning.png) How far forward do you want you camera? Do you want your props in view? How much? ### Step 6: Vibration Isolation ![isolation examples](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/381833/rich_content/dd6b2a3f-08a4-4ccb-aa67-851fda938da6/thumbs/cover/800x152/png/options.png) A few different versions: - Standard - Cut-out * Seems slightly effective at absorption and great at reducing weight for longer forward offsets! - Vibration Isolation * My new design for maximum high-frequency absorption. Camera is still protected! Will be MORE susceptible to low-frequency oscillations from your tune/filters! See my “Vibration? Jello? Jitters?” section over [on printables](https://www.printables.com/model/381833/)! * 99% of time the jello your O3 shows is from your quad _oscillating_, not from vibration. Ask me in my discord how to debug and solve oscillation. ### Step 7: Wall size ![offset diagram](https://media.printables.com/media/prints/381833/rich_content/7b46f08f-91a7-4389-8d2a-ed4ee58f2d27/thumbs/cover/800x141/png/wall-size.png) Flying a 3 or 4" and want it as lightweight as possible? - Standard size: 2mm most places, 3mm around the lens. Usually ~6g - Thin walls: 1.2 walls, 1.6 around lens. Usually ~4g. - Ask about any variations you'd like. ### Step 8: Request the STL! Send me a message on [discord](https://b.link/t4discord)/[telegram](https://t.me/coolwheel)/printables-dm. Everything is generated on-demand with the settings you ask for. Why? - The STLs in the ‘files’ section are outdated. - I can't possibly keep re-exporting, uploading, and organizing 80+ STLs after each tweak! - They don't have the configuration you want. - I can't possibly upload all the variations! - User feedback is VITAL to making this project work. I need to hear from folks. -> So request it! I've set up my discord as a cool queue system. I'll get you your custom STL in less than 24h, usually right away. ### Step 9: Print the Mount - Print with TPU filament, slowly - Use tree support if your slicer supports it - Best printed as oriented in the STL - Use 2 or 3 perimeter walls for most setups. 3 walls+ for bando bashing. - Infill: Use 20 - 40% infill. ### That's it! Go fly! ## Got **vibration / jello / jitters**? More details [on printables](https://www.printables.com/model/381833) I've added a whole section **on fixing vibration / jello / jitters** which can be really tough to get rid of on the O3 video. It's easier to write/maintain documentation over there so go [check it out!](https://www.printables.com/model/381833) ## Again: BEWARE, what's uploaded here is OUTDATED Seriously. I just can't keep reuploading and categorizing 60+ STLs. Tweaks are always happening based on feedback. Thicker base, more material here, less there, on and on. So: ## Want the Latest Version? Missing your Quad? Message me! [discord](https://b.link/t4discord)/[telegram](https://t.me/coolwheel)/printables-dm! The 60+ mount designs I've uploaded here (see files!) are updated after every tidbit of feedback I get and are all already out-of-date. Message me for the latest version! New quads/variations for folks all the time. I may already have the one you need. It's really zero trouble, I can export configurations on my phone and send them over instantly.
