The Holocaust Altar Represented Salvation The Holocaust altar represented the "Calvary", the path of salvation for the sinner. On the Holocaust altar the sinner had his sins expiated. This is an exact figure of Christ. The Lamb of God made Himself an offering to expiate all sin of humanity. He is "the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" (John 1:29). So, our Lord bore, in our place, God's judgment on sin, making Himself sin for us (Isaiah 53:4,10; Zechariah 13:7; Matthew 26:39; 1 Timothy 2:5,6).
