Nålebinding Needle
thingiverse
Nålebinding is an ancient technique that predates both knitting and crochet. Literally translated from Norwegian as "needle binding," this technique accurately describes its method. Unlike knitting and crocheting, which can be done with a skein, nålebinding requires strands of yarn joined together as you run out of yarn. This technique produces a robust fabric that cannot be easily unraveled, or "frogged." For example, if your mitten has developed a hole from heavy use, you can cut off the tip and create a new one or repurpose it as a fingerless mitten. There are many techniques to master, but beginners may find the Oslo Stitch easiest with thick yarn. You can find a video tutorial for this stitch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcuUqeKQZ5Q (this YouTube user also offers numerous nålebinding tutorials). This model requires specific print settings: * Printer Brand: 3D Systems * Printer: Cube 3 * Rafts: Doesn't matter * Supports: No Note that this model needs a four-layer perimeter to be strong enough for use without breaking. To prepare the model, turn it so the needle lies flat on its back. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing issues uploading the design, but I'll resolve this in the future. After printing, the needle might require sanding depending on your printer's specifications to prevent snagging on yarn. This design was inspired by my favorite wooden needle crafted for me by my grandfather.
