The figure, dating back to the 17th century, was relocated to Ecouen Castle and depicted holding a modern rudder in its right hand, embodying an allegory of Fortune. By 1793, it underwent restoration to match its current state, after which it was placed in Versailles' gardens, joining forces with the Louvre by 1802. This work is a replica of a well-known Greek original from the Hellenistic era, also seen in Roman copies, like the one housed at Ince Blundell Hall that bears an inscription identifying it as Anchyrrhoé. The same scheme was later used to represent Terpsichore, the muse of dance.
