Nylon Vane Air Pump
pinshape
This is a versatile air pump/vacuum with a unique design. The internal core spins within an offset chamber, acting as a centrifuge that propels its vanes outward. The vanes then collide with the chamber wall, capturing incoming air from the intake hole. As the core rotates, the offset chamber pushes the vanes inward, forcing air out through the escape hole. This type of pump requires high-temperature materials like nylon or carbon fiber to prevent heat damage; I learned this lesson the hard way. A hobby motor is designed to attach to the pump base via two M3 machine screws. The core fits securely onto the motor shaft through friction. The vanes float freely, and the entire system is sealed by sandwiching the lid and base together with nuts and four M4 machine screws. Additionally, you can enhance the setup with 1/8" NPT push-fit hose connectors on the input/output ports, as I've done.
