Use with extreme caution, as this tool is intended for experienced technicians only. This tool is designed specifically for 5/16 nylon fuel line and will enable you to securely press a barbed union (possibly compatible with other fittings, though I have only tested it with the union) onto the line. It functions similarly to other tools available online; simply Google "nylon fuel line repair tool" to get an idea. Some people claim that using heat, like a hair dryer or heat gun, or even submerging the fitting and line in boiling water is possible but extremely challenging and potentially hazardous when done on a vehicle. To utilize this tool effectively, you will need a Caulk gun and two 6mm (1/4 inch with a slight reaming) bolts and nuts (mine are approximately 2.3 inches long). The steps to assemble the tool are as follows: 1. Apply a small amount of lubricant to the fitting and line. 2. Clamp the 5/16 nylon line securely into the clamp. 3. Gently push the fitting in by hand. 4. Slide the piston piece over the fitting. 5. Place the assembly into the caulk gun. 6. Hold the union straight as you pump. I printed this tool with a cubic infill of 30%. I conducted eight test fittings using new nylon line and successfully completed four fittings on my car utilizing nylon line from 1987 W. Germany (old and hard). All were successful after I refined my technique. However, I once over-tightened the clamp, causing it to crack but still allowing me to complete the necessary work. In hindsight, I would likely use a higher infill percentage, possibly up to 80%, for future prints. If you frequently work on nylon fuel line every day, you should invest in a professional tool. However, if this is a rare occurrence, this device will suffice.
