Nydia, The Blind Flower Girl of Pompeii is a stunning marble sculpture inspired by Edward Bulwer-Lytton's novel, The Last Days of Pompeii. Sculpted in 1854 by Randolph Rogers, the life-size piece brings to life Nydia, a character from the novel who was stolen as a young slave girl from high-born parents by kidnappers. She sold garlands of flowers on the streets to earn money, weaving them with her own hands. Tragically, she eventually took her own life rather than suffer through unrequited love. Today, this incredible sculpture can be found at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This magnificent object is part of "Scan The World", a groundbreaking non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory. Through Scan the World, we're creating a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks and landmarks from around the world for everyone to access free of charge.
