NYC Subway Train
thingiverse
I wanted to give my son a NYC subway train that he could use with his other wooden trains, but I thought the $30 price tag was too steep. So, I decided to design my own version of an NYC train that would be compatible with all his other wood and magnet trains. Since this train uses a 5mm magnet ball as its connector, it can connect to other trains in any orientation. This means my son can build all sorts of creative tracks and layouts without being limited by specific train configurations. The subway car and bottom are separate components, allowing anyone or myself in the future to design new tops for the train if we want to. I'm excited to see what kind of custom designs people come up with. In the picture above, you'll notice that the magnets haven't been installed yet because they're still on their way. However, I was able to use some 8mm x 1mm magnets I had lying around as a temporary substitute so my son can start using his new train right away. As soon as the proper magnets arrive, I'll post an update picture for everyone to see. The first train in this set is made from SLA prints, while the rest are made from PLA. I'm really happy with how they turned out and can't wait to hear what you all think of them! If you enjoy watching my content, please consider supporting me on Patreon.
