ATTENTION: This thing didn't quite live up to expectations. The weak point where the front transitions into the handle and the softness of aluminum made it unable to crack nuts effectively. I've since created an improved version with a few key modifications, including a switch to brass. You can find Nutcracker II here. I used the geometry of a high-performing nutcracker as inspiration for this layered design. The aluminum and oak components are screwed together, while nuts secure the screws on the handles. To add extra stability, I threaded tape into the aluminum parts. This build was completed on a desktop CNC machine by Stepcraft using 7 mm thick oak wood with a 2 mm spiral-toothed flute and 3 mm aluminum cut with a 2 mm 2-edged flute.
