Nutcracker

Nutcracker

I designed a basic corkscrew nutcracker specifically for cracking small hazelnuts, which kids often bring home from playgrounds. The tool could be scaled up to crack larger nuts if needed, but that wasn't my primary goal. The design takes into account the alignment of the screw and box to minimize weak points caused by z-layer bonding when cracking nuts. My initial print, done in a straightforward bottom-to-top sequence, failed due to this issue, but rearranging the parts strengthened the assembly significantly. The -175 files contain a scaled-up version intended for walnuts up to 4.5cm in size. Although I created these designs, I haven't had the opportunity to test them yet since my printer lacks the capacity to handle such large prints.
