Nut Keeper for Hero Me Gen5
thingiverse
A common problem when assembling the Hero Me gen 5 fan duct suite is the large number of captive nuts that fall out unexpectedly. These tiny pieces, mirror images of each other, greatly reduce this issue. Before using them, prepare these two pieces by running an M3 tap (or an M3 screw if you don't have a tap) through the five deliberately undersized holes in each piece to cut a crude thread. See NutKeeper_Usage.PNG At the point where the Hero Me Base attaches to the gantry adaptor, each side of the base has two captive nuts for the duct attachment and three captive nuts. Insert these five nuts, securing each temporarily with a screw but ensuring that the screw end does not protrude from the nut. Insert the appropriate Nut Keeper to cover the nuts, placing the thin 3-holed section over the fan nuts and the 2-holed thick section over the gantry nuts. Then, screw in the duct screws all the way through the Nut Keeper, followed by doing the same for the gantry screws. Repeat this process for the other side. The nuts are now securely captive and will not fall out unless you remove all five screws. Assemble the Hero Me while leaving the NutKeepers in place, ensuring that each side has either gantry screws or duct screws, depending on your current stage of assembly.
